A Night of Spooky Fun
Article Date - 10th November 2007
Author - Marco Calleja

An amazing crowd had the times of their lives at the HOI POLLOI SPOOKY PASTA EVE on the 3rd of November, as  the grand hall of Razzett tal-Hbiberija was changed to a realm of ghosts, witches and other spooky beings simply a night of fun.

The night kicked off at around 1900hrs with daring guests entering the appropriately light and decorated venue and offered a welcome drink thanks to Martini. The presenters of the show, nasty DRACULA, sexy ELVIRA and groovy AFRODITA welcomed the guests and opened the buffet.

When the clock stroke 9 the three 'deadly' presenter returned on stage, this time for good as they kicked off the entertainment line up carefully prepared for the event. Bernardette and Nathalie sang a repertoire of amazing songs which were enjoyed by all. An amazing, jaw dropping show by illusionist Brian Role and Lola Palmer than followed. Audiences enjoyed thrilling and funny moments with this very talented duo. Johanna interpreted two songs from her repertoire followed by Daniela Brockdorff who sang two songs she has recently recorded in London.

The eve ended with a hilarious interpretation of the comedy 'Hocus Pocus', adapted for the event by Marco Calleja which also starred John Paul Vella, Alex Ellul, Katia Monreal and Matthew Calleja. Audiences couldn't stop laughing as they witnessed the rebirth of three scruffy ancient witches (Vella, Calleja and Ellul) trying to catch up with advances in technology, environment, politics, the general election and more, only two be stopped by two ambitious, witty kids (Calleja and Monreal).

Special thanks goes to

our sponsors: Farsons, CopyQuick, Papillon, Martini and Barilla,

and to Hoi Polloi's very own voluntary team for the delicious food and decorations- Marisa, Doris, Jeanette, Alessio, Twanny, Markita, Benna, Johanna, Stefan, John Paul, Marco and Maria for making the whole event possible.
